The Centralia Power Plant is located in Centralia, Washington and includes two identical coal-fired generating units with a combined capacity of about 1400 MW. There is also gas fired generation located at this site, however, the closure discussed in this study report is limited to the coal portion of the power plant. The issue addressed in this study report is the effect of the generation closure on the transmission grid, including transmission plans for the area. On April 29, 2011, Gov. Chris Gregoire signed legislation to close one unit by 2020 and the second unit by 2025.
