ColumbiaGrid - A Decade of Service

ColumbiaGrid Stakeholders and Interested Parties: This month marks a decade of service for ColumbiaGrid since the corporation was established in March 2006. ColumbiaGrid’s 2015 Annual Report shows how far ColumbiaGrid has progressed as a grid-planning corporation.
“We have definitely matured as a corporation and our grid-planning services have adapted to meet the unique needs of our federal, investor-owned, municipal and public utility members in the midst of an ever-changing industry and regulatory environment,” said Patrick Damiano, ColumbiaGrid’s president and CEO. “The theme of our 2015 annual report, Grid-Planning Excellence via Expertise, Enhancements, and Expanded Services, encapsulates how far we have come in that we are providing more grid-planning services at lower cost and greater operating efficiency than ever before. We are now poised to continue to grow and adapt to meet the needs of the industry and our participants,” added Mr. Damiano.
ColumbiaGrid’s audited financials for the past two operating years are listed in the annual report. Last year’s annual operating costs of approximately $2.9M were a record low, and are down approximately 30% or $1.3M from a high in 2012.

ColumbiaGrid, a non-profit membership corporation, was formed in 2006 to improve the operational efficiency, reliability, and planned expansion of the northwest transmission grid. The members are Avista Corp., Bonneville Power Administration, Chelan County PUD, Grant County PUD, Puget Sound Energy, Seattle City Light, Snohomish County PUD and Tacoma Power. Cowlitz PUD, Douglas County PUD, and MATL LLP are non-member participants in grid expansion planning.
