ColumbiaGrid-2016 Annual Report Published; Kris Mikkelsen Elected Chair of the Board of Directors

ColumbiaGrid’s Stakeholders and Interested Parties: As the corporation approaches its eleventh anniversary in March of this year, ColumbiaGrid’s 2016 Annual Report reflects ColumbiaGrid’s efficiency, expertise, and focus as a regional grid-planning organization.

“The theme of our 2016 annual report, Focused, Reliable, and Efficient Grid-Planning; Collaboratively Guiding Us through Uncertainty, embodies the essence of our mission to deliver excellent regional grid expansion planning. In doing so, we enable our federal, investor-owned, municipal and public utility members and planning participants to make informed decisions as they chart their courses to navigate through the uncertainties of the future,” said Patrick Damiano, ColumbiaGrid’s president and CEO. “We deliver what our members and planning participants need – excellent, cost-effective, regional grid-planning,” added Mr. Damiano.

ColumbiaGrid’s audited financials, for the past two operating years, are listed in the 2016 Annual Report. ColumbiaGrid’s overall annual operating costs, of approximately $2.7 M, are down approximately 34% from a high in 2012.

In other news, in a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors on February 15, Kris Mikkelsen was elected to be the Chair of ColumbiaGrid’s Board of Directors and will continue serve alongside current Board members Jim Miller and Ed Sienkiewicz. Ms. Mikkelsen is a retired Inland Power & Light Co. executive and has served on ColumbiaGrid’s Board of Directors since April 2013. Her one-year term as Chair started at the February 15 meeting of the Board of Directors and will run until February 2018. “We are thankful that our Members have selected such an excellent, cohesive, and stable group of Directors,” said Patrick Damiano, ColumbiaGrid’s president and CEO.


ColumbiaGrid, a non-profit membership corporation, was formed in 2006 to improve the operational efficiency, reliability, and planned expansion of the northwest transmission grid. The members are Avista Corp., Bonneville Power Administration, Chelan County PUD, Grant County PUD, Puget Sound Energy, Seattle City Light, Snohomish County PUD and Tacoma Power. Cowlitz PUD and Douglas County PUD are non-member participants in grid expansion planning.
