Board Approves ColumbiaGrid 2017 Biennial Transmission Expansion Plan

At their February 15, 2017 meeting, ColumbiaGrid’s Board of Directors adopted the 2017 Biennial Transmission Expansion Plan. The contents of the plan include summaries and conclusions of major activities that occurred during the biennial cycle, including activities after adoption of the 2016 Update to the 2015 Biennial Transmission Expansion Plan, such as additional Order 1000 activities (regional and interregional), the 2016 System Assessment, formulation of a ten year plan, sensitivity studies, transient stability studies, and economic planning studies. “I am very happy with the 2017 Biennial Transmission Expansion Plan. Our team of experts has developed a very detailed and thorough plan,” said Paul Didsayabutra, ColumbiaGrid’s Manager of Grid Planning.

The 2017 Biennial Transmission Expansion Plan document is posted on ColumbiaGrid’s website and can be accessed by clicking on the following link: 2017 Biennial Transmission Expansion Plan

"Chelan PUD is a strong supporter of ColumbiaGrid and the work that’s accomplished through the transmission Planning and Expansion Functional Agreement (PEFA). As a result of that process, the mid-C utilities (Chelan, Grant and Douglas PUDs) and Bonneville Power Administration were able to reach an agreement that defined the need for a new transmission line, as well as determine who will construct, own and pay for the facility. Those difficult decisions were made successful through the expert and independent expertise of the ColumbiaGrid staff."
